Screwdriver top

In my destash challenge I had the pleasure of finding this fun and beautiful sewing pattern with extreme sleeves. I realised that I have plenty of fabric but not as many inspiring patterns. I went on to thefoldline and got a couple... or actually a lot of... new sewing patterns. How fun!

I must say the instructions for this pattern was so fun and easy. They are written with a lot of personality and made the sewing journey a blast. I was a bit worried about how to make the sleeves but the instructions and illustrations were awesome, showing the origami folding in a great way.

The fabric requirements was about 3 meters, which I did not have in my stash. But I do like a challenge - I found this cute cotton fabric of 2 meters and tested it. If it wouldn't work I thought I could cut the long straps and lining in another fabric.

I did manage to get it out by patching many small pieces together, which kind of works for this small-patterned fabric and resulted in only a handful of waste! But a little more fabric to work with would probably be nice next time. It is really time consuming to patch pieces together.

The final result is really nice, I have used it a lot. I love how it turned out with the fabric. The fitting could be better on my body though, I would want it a bit longer and also make it fit my shoulders better... Right now it has a tendency to slide of my shoulders a little bit. Would probably work with a dicrete snap fastener in the opening.

I have an idea of making another one but extend it to a dramatic-sleeved dress in the future.
